Many people are familiar with ASE certification, but what is it? The Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is a national standard for automotive service professionals that was created to help consumers find quality technicians. It provides an easy way to identify which technicians have the most up-to-date knowledge and skills in the industry. To become certified, students must pass a written exam and complete hands-on training on specific topics. There are three levels of ASE certifications:
- Level 1 -covers basic car maintenance.
- Level 2- covers more advanced repairs like brakes or transmissions.
- Level 3 -includes anything related to engineering or management in the automotive field.
Today, consumers can verify technicians are certified before they bring their vehicles in for repairs. By choosing ASE-certified technicians, consumers with newer cars get assurance their automotive systems will be repaired properly the first time around. Older cars benefit from the certification as well because it means the technician has been trained to work on older model vehicles.
